Viewing Distance

The distance between your led sign and its viewers is the most important factor in determining the types of LED sign you need. Longer distances require less resolution, and shorter distances require higher resolutions. If you are standing 60 feet away from a led sign, the letters need be about 2 inches to be legible; If you are standing 180 feet away from a led sign, the letters need be about 6 inches to be legible. The rule is that you need 1 inch for every 30 feet of viewing distance.

Color

LED color choices range from single color to multi-color (including Red/Amber/Blue/White/Green). For outdoor LED signs, color choices range from one color monochrome in Red or Amber to up to 16 Million RGB colors.

Monochrome signs, in which all the diodes are the same color, usually Red or Amber, can display one single color, or they can display up to 265 shades of one color, providing high-resolution monochrome graphics capabilities.

Full-color displays are getting more popularity as the price of the RGB led displays fall into the price range of many small business owners. For outdoor full-color led signs with full-color graphics, choose the RGB 64K control system, which provides 64 thousand colors. For high-resolution graphic animations and real-time video input, choose the RGB 16.7M control system which provides 16.7 million brilliant RGB colors.

Resolution

Resolution , also know as pitch, is the most important factor that affects the cost of led sign. More resolu-tion means more diodes and more circuits, which usually means higher cost. So how do you determine the total resolution of a sign? Pitch is the distance (usually in millimeters) between pixels. Pitch is always measured from the center of one diode to the center of another diode. The smaller the pitch number, the higher the resolution quality. Larger the pitch numbers indicate a lower resolution. A pixel can be one single diode, or a pixel can be a cluster of many diodes running off the same circuit.

Brightness

When purchasing an outdoor-bright LED sign, it is important to understand that there are major differences between LED sign systems. An outdoor-bright sign must have at least 5000 NITS of brightness to be seen in the daylight sun. our led signs typically exceed this standard by a long shot. Viewing Angles

Diodes are capable of outputting light at a variety of angles. Diodes can put out a single, narrow beam of light like a flashlight, or they can output a wide array across a room like a light bulb. Diodes output about the same amount of light no matter what type they are-but the “high-beam” diodes with a narrow angle focus more light into one small spot, whereas the “wide angle’ diodes spread their light across the horizon. So, if you were to stand in front of a sign made from “high-beam” diodes with narrow viewing angles, you would see an extremely bright led sign if you stood directly in front of it, but the minute you walked away from the small spot light of it’s focus, you would see nothing but black. On the other hand, if you were to build a led sign with lots of “wide angle” diodes, you could move around and to the side of led sign, and still see a great image.
